The most suitable trekking season is generally summer, particularly July to September, subject to local weather, snow conditions, and route accessibility.
Thallo Pass is a high-altitude route, so the actual opening period varies each year. Precious Pakistan recommends checking current trail conditions with experienced local guides before confirming departure.
The Chitral to Dir Thallo Pass Trek is classified as difficult because of its long trekking days, sustained elevation gain, remote campsites, and high-altitude pass crossing.
The route includes demanding days of up to 10–12 hours of trekking. Snow, loose rocks, cold temperatures, and rapidly changing weather can make the crossing more challenging.
This trek is recommended for physically fit hikers with previous multi-day trekking or high-altitude hiking experience. Participants should be prepared to carry a daypack, camp in remote locations, and walk for extended periods over uneven terrain.
Proper acclimatisation, suitable trekking equipment, and a flexible itinerary are essential. High altitude can affect anyone regardless of fitness, so allow time to adjust and seek medical advice before undertaking a demanding expedition.
Arrive at Islamabad International Airport, where the Precious Pakistan team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, relax following your international journey. Depending on your arrival time, attend a trek briefing and check your equipment before the adventure begins.
