About this activity

The Rakaposhi & Diran Base Camp Trek is one of the most spectacular trekking experiences in Northern Pakistan, taking adventure seekers deep into the heart of the Karakoram Mountains. Located in Nagar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, this trek offers incredible views of the legendary Rakaposhi (7,788m) and Diran Peak (7,266m), along with glaciers, alpine meadows, dramatic mountain landscapes, and traditional mountain communities.

The trek begins from Minapin Village, a scenic settlement in Nagar Valley accessible from Gilgit via the Karakoram Highway (KKH). From Minapin, trekkers hike through beautiful mountain terrain toward Hapakun Camp, which usually takes around 2–3 hours. The trail offers impressive views of the surrounding peaks and valleys while providing an opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere and hospitality of the local communities and porters.

From Hapakun, the trail continues toward Rakaposhi Base Camp, also known as Tagaphari. This 3–4 hour hike takes trekkers closer to the spectacular Minapin Glacier, which descends between the towering Rakaposhi and Diran massifs. At Tagaphari, trekkers can enjoy panoramic mountain views and experience the remarkable landscape surrounding one of Pakistan’s most famous peaks.

For experienced trekkers looking for an additional adventure, the journey can be extended to Diran Base Camp. The route involves crossing the Katchelly Glacier moraine and takes approximately 2–3 hours from Rakaposhi Base Camp, depending on trail and glacier conditions. The extension provides closer views of Diran Peak and a more challenging experience in the high-mountain environment of the Karakoram.

The Rakaposhi and Diran Base Camp Trek is an excellent choice for travelers looking for trekking in Pakistan, Karakoram adventures, glacier trekking, mountain photography, and authentic cultural experiences. With its relatively short approach, spectacular scenery, and the opportunity to explore two iconic Karakoram peaks, this trek offers a memorable adventure in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.

Whether you are planning a private adventure, group trekking trip, or customized Pakistan tour, the Rakaposhi & Diran Base Camp Trek offers an unforgettable journey beyond the ordinary—Discover Beyond Limits with Precious Pakistan.
